OptiMate 4S Dual Program, is the exclusive battery charger with maintenance function capable of optimally diagnosing, recovering, charging, testing and maintaining automatically.
With direct connection, or by selecting the program for charging via the 12V plug on motorcycles equipped with CAN-bus.

Activation : OptiMate 4 Dual Program automatically charges and maintains the battery until it is disconnected.
Includes low voltage pulse recovery mode for even more effective recovery of neglected batteries.

operation

1 It is possible to switch from the Standard program to Can-Bus with a simple 5-step procedure: connect the terminals, connect to the mains, wait for the LED to confirm the change of program, disconnect the terminals.

You can switch between programs as many times as you wish. The LED indication confirms that the CAN-BUS program is active.

2 Safety check: OptiMate 4 DUAL PROGRAM proceeds to charge if the battery voltage can remain above 2V during the initial diagnosis phase, even if the battery was at 0.5V before connection.

3 Functionality: the OptiMate 4 DUAL PROGRAM microprocessor checks that the system is working properly (confirmation is indicated by a short flash of the LEDs).

4 Prequalification test: OptiMate 4 DUAL PROGRAM indicates the condition of the battery before charging.

5 Desulphation and recovery: STANDARD (up to 16V) is automatically applied to bring neglected and discharged batteries from a sulphation state to a rechargeable state. For neglected batteries, the TURBO phase is activated (max 22V) if the vehicle electronics are not detected/the battery is out of the vehicle.

The Turbo phase is disabled by selecting the CAN-bus program. For the last 15 minutes safe recovery with low voltage PULSES is activated.

6 Main charge: a constant current of 0.8 A is supplied until the voltage has risen to 14.3 V.

7 Absorption and equalization: the current is supplied in pulses, to complete the battery charge in the shortest possible time.

8 Verification of the charge and short-circuits/control of the short-circuited cells: the acceptance of the charge is monitored, to detect internal damages and to avoid the unnecessary charging of a non-recoverable battery that cannot be used.

If an undamaged battery requires further charging, the program is switched over to pulse absorption.

9 Voltage retention test: it is carried out for 30 minutes during which no charge current is delivered, with 5 possible test results that indicate the general health of the battery.

Prequalification tests can be used to identify batteries that may retain an initial charge, but in some cases may lose it overnight

10 Charge retention: a voltage of 13.6V is supplied for 30 minutes following each charge retention test, with charging current up to the maximum level available to support it with respect to the natural discharge or the current consumption carried out by components of the vehicle permanently active (LCD display, computerized control) or connected access (alarm, immobilizer).

The voltage retention test and charge maintenance periods continue to alternate every half hour until the battery is disconnected.

The test result is updated during each subsequent test.

Can-Bus program : the program with keyless activation guarantees automatic reopening of the connection even with the ignition not activated.

The alternate test and charge program is intended to provide the recommended holding voltage for AGM/GEL batteries, while reducing the average voltage required for batteries with STD filler lid, making it ideal for unlimited and safe maintenance charging at 100% of any type of 12V lead-acid battery.
